Inclusive Entrepreneurship in Schools: a Hands-on Approach

Course Summary

The course is intended for teachers and professional associates of pre-primary, primary and secondary schools as well as school principals. The main aim is to introduce entrepreneurship at all levels of primary education by empowering teachers, teacher trainers and principals with easy-to-follow and ready-made solutions. It also addresses possible ways to implement of the subject of entrepreneurship into the school curricula.

The course includes workshops and activities on inclusion and diversity in entrepreneurship. This course is ideal for small teams/pairs or individuals, but also for groups of teachers from the same institution because it provides a different approach for each teacher - working in teams with the participants taking on different roles ensures the diversity of skills that participants will acquire by the end of the course.

Course Detailed Description

From Day 1 participants will actively implement the gained knowledge by creating their own portfolio, which they will easily use back at their schools.
 

The activities are easy to follow, yet purposeful and practical. With activities that involve financial literacy, team management, event management, project development or time management - the course covers even more – entrepreneurship for people with fewer opportunities addressing the problem of inclusion and diversity at the level it deserves.
 

The course provides an insight in how to meaningfully organize the activities and prepare them for the school curricula regardless of the class size, student age or group diversity. This course also provides tools and instructions for teachers in the form of a teachers’ guide each participant gets as a present. Role play activities, scenarios and videos from real classrooms are used to apply the theoretical knowledge around entrepreneurship participants will gain.

Course tasks are to:

  • introduce teaching methods and strategies for teachers when teaching entrepreneurship

  • introduce participants to eTwinning projects on the topic of entrepreneurship

  • exchange ideas and good practice with course alumni group

  • visit the most successful entrepreneurs and venues during the course

  • include ICT in all activities

  • build a participant portfolio

  • implement entrepreneurial activities into participants’ school curriculum

  • implement the strategy for inclusion of students with fewer opportunities

This course includes presentations, individual and team workshops and field trips. The course
program includes a guided tour of the city, a visit to one of Croatia’s most successful entrepreneurs.

Course outcomes

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the way entrepreneurship is introduced at the early level

  • Collaborate effectively within professional teams and interdisciplinary contexts with
    emphasis on forming student teams

  • Contribute to cultural discourses by incorporating ethically aware and globally
    diverse perspectives on social entrepreneurship

  • Apply effective oral, written and visual communication skills to present
    entrepreneurial games and activities for students

  • Plan and develop a short research project (a survey) that aims to implementing
    inclusive and diverse teaching methods

  • Effectively apply ICT tools in teaching entrepreneurship

  • Critically reflect on professional knowledge and skills, incorporating broad subject
    knowledge and perspectives
